Mrs. Hindle – that’s me, I’ll not refer to myself in the third person from now on. I have a few passions in life, among them history, cookbooks and old movies. I’ve found an interesting way of combining two or even three of those by collecting old cookbooks (you’d be amazed by how many long-forgotten movie stars wrote cookbooks in their latter years). The purpose of this site is to chronicle my efforts at recreating some choice pieces from those books.

My aim is to try one dish per week and let you know how it goes, along with giving you the original recipe as well as some tangential chatter. The recipes will range from as old as I can possibly get my hands on to a wholly arbitrary cut-off around 1950.
